The meeting included members of Parliament’s Human Rights and Constitutional and Legislative Affairs Committees, as well as the Council’s president and several of its members.

Discussions focused on developments following the resignation of former Council president Moushira Khattab and a review of the Council’s upcoming work plan.

Participants also examined draft amendments to the law governing the Council’s establishment. The proposed changes aim to strengthen the NCHR’s independence and enable it to exercise its constitutional and legal mandates fully.

Following the meeting, members of both parliamentary committees reaffirmed their support for the Council’s work and goals.

The NCHR reiterated its commitment to ongoing dialogue with all relevant stakeholders to enhance its operations' legislative framework and ensure full compliance with international human rights standards.
